Institute for Violence Research
About Us
The Institute for Violence Research conducts archival-based research of the events and aftermath of wars and civil wars that shaped 20th-century history in the Carpathian Basin, with a special focus on Hungary.
We examine how state and collective violence played out, and the role that law enforcement and judicial institutions had in these events. This includes examining their direct and indirect political and socio-historical antecedents and consequences.
We publish scholarly monographs and source editions, organize academic conferences and workshops.
